Collaborative Piano/Voice Coaching
In addition his endeavors as a singer, Mr. Rader spends a large amount of his time at the piano. He served as Adjunct Faculty in the Collaborative Piano Department of Middle Tennessee State University for the 2007-2008 school year. While there, he was the regular rehearsal, lesson and performance pianist for around a dozen singers.
In August 2016, he served as coaching faculty and répétiteur for the San Miguel Institute of Bel Canto in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico, working alongside giants in the business such as Joseph McClain, Marcie Stapp, and Ted Taylor.
During this process, and in the following years, he developed an affinity for being a vocal coach. Throughout this time, he has cultivated a keen sense of the various approaches to classical singing, and endeavors to adapt his coaching style to the dynamic of the individual, rather than establish a "cookie cutter" method. He spends a majority of his work week supporting the instruction of the Indiana University voice faculty in fine-tuning everything from musical style to diction and technique in singers of all levels of experience.
Though he has spent much of his collaborative time with singers, he enjoys working with instrumentalists as well. Also, when available, he has served as an event pianist for weddings, graduations and other such occasions.
